Medical experts convene for NEIGRIHMS conference

SHILLONG, Sep 7: Medical experts and participants from various parts of India gathered for the much-anticipated East Zone Paediatric Nephrology Conference 2024, hosted by the Department of Pediatrics at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS).
The conference — featuring a series of discussions on critical pediatric nephrology issues, such as Nephrotic Syndrome, Glomerulonephritis, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) — drew leading specialists and faculty from various regions, contributing to a comprehensive exchange of knowledge and expertise.
During the conference, Medical Superintendent of NEIGRIHMS, Dr. Daniala, stressed the importance of establishing a dedicated Pediatric Nephrology unit at the institute.
She also outlined the vision for launching a DM Residency programme in Pediatric Nephrology, reinforcing NEIGRIHMS’s commitment to enhancing specialised healthcare in the region.
Prominent national faculty members, including Dr. Anil Vasudevan from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, and Dr. Valentine Lobo from KEM Hospital, Pune, shared the latest advancements in the field, particularly in medical genetics, and discussed their impact on clinical practices.
The conference attracted pediatric nephrology faculty from across eastern India, including West Bengal, Meghalaya, Assam, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
It also featured an array of interactive activities, with DNB residents actively participating in quizzes, paper presentations, and poster sessions, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
