TURA: Tura police have filed an FIR and registered a criminal case under the Arms Act against the ANVC-B militants who attacked policemen from Chandmari beat house when the latter had gone to investigate a missing persons report leading to bullet injury on two security force personnel.
“We have registered cases against ANVC-B under the Arms Act and attempt to murder and named Doang D Shira and Rimpu N Marak in the FIR,” said West Garo Hills police chief Mukesh Kr Singh.
He said that the cases were filed by the police personnel who went to the Edenbari camp to verify reports about missing cadres of the ANVC-B.
The ANVC-B had on Monday reportedly filed an FIR with police alleging that three cadres, including two women, were missing since New Year eve while returning to the camp.
The leaders of the outfit had expressed concern that their missing cadres may have been abducted by rival groups.
West Garo Hills police are demanding that the ANVC-B hand over those cadres involved in the firing incident at Edenbari on Tuesday afternoon.
“They have to produce the accused that opened fire on our two unarmed police officers when our team went to the camp. They have attacked with an intention to murder uniformed officers on duty who were unarmed,” said Singh.
