SHILLONG, Sep 30: Police have made a significant recovery of stolen items in the state capital.
Informing this, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger, said that a large quantity of stolen materials, in connection with a Rynjah Police Station case, was recovered on Sunday evening.
The discovery was made near the 4th furlong area, prompting swift action from Nongmensong police outpost personnel.
During the operation, a six-wheeler truck (Registration No. AS01CC-3985) was found loaded with scrap metal identified as the stolen items.
The haul included 10 units of Beam Web Assembly, 32 units of shuttering jack, as well as a mobile phone and SIM card. A local taxi (ML05K-7554) was also seized in connection with the case.
In a separate development, the police achieved a breakthrough in a Sadar Police Station case with the successful recovery of a vehicle from Imphal, Manipur.
This case originated from a complaint lodged against Mohammad Fareed, a resident of Mawbah, Shillong.
The complainant had alleged that Fareed had coerced him into acting as a guarantor for the purchase of a Maruti Suzuki Eeco 5 STR, without disclosing that the vehicle would be registered in the complainant’s name, making him responsible for the EMI payments.
After a thorough investigation, the vehicle was traced and safely returned to Shillong.
Meanwhile, investigations in both cases are under way to uncover more details.
