SHILLONG: State Bank of India, the country’s largest Bank on Saturday, extended its corporate social responsibility arm by donating Ambulance to 3 different NGOs of Meghalaya to enable them to render humanitarian services like taking the sick and ailing poor patients, particularly of remote areas to hospitals who are not in a position to hire an ambulance even in critical situation.
The vehicles will also be used for mobile medical services and for medical & health awareness camps, eye camps, in different remote and rural areas.
Addressing the gathering, Deborah C Marak, Minister, Social Welfare Department, appreciated the noble gesture of State Bank of India for their various corporate social responsibility activities for the poor and needy section of the society.
The Managing Director said that State Bank of India, the premier Bank of the country has always played a pivotal role as a socially responsive organization in contributing towards numerous initiatives in social sector. Besides its normal banking activities, it directly extends help by way of donation to benevolent and charitable organizations as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities.
