Shillong, Oct 20: That Thadlaskein Sports Association (TSA) has been revived after a period of suspension lasting several years.
The TSA had been derecognised by the Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) in 2019 due to a “breach of the constitution and the directives” of the MFA.
At the initiative of the local people, an ad hoc body was formed under the leadership of its Chairman and Convenor with the support of the 31 clubs affiliated to the TSA.
The ad hoc body of the TSA had then written to the MFA, the apex body governing football in the state, requesting to lift the suspension and facilitate in having a General Body Meeting to elect new office bearers.
The MFA quickly responded to the request made by the TSA.
The GBM was conducted on Saturday at the Wahiajer Community Hall.
A team from the MFA attended the meeting and the election process to elect the members was conducted under the supervision of MFA General Secretary Sunesh Syiem. “We at the MFA are very delighted that we could finally revive the Thadlaskein Sports Association after a very long gap,” Syiem said after the meeting.
“The Thadlaskein area has always been an impressive place that has produced many talented players who have represented the state and the country.”
The TSA will be led by its President Kmenlang Shylla, who will have two Vice-Presidents – Ebris Pariat and Mutchwa Thabah.
The General Secretary and Assistant GS are Ebormi Lyngdoh and Herperty Khyriem respectively.
Pyrkhatbha Lamare was elected Treasurer. In addition, Secretaries of different committees were also elected along with Executive Members. The MFA, whose new executive committee is only a year old, has thus been able to achieve another milestone by reviving the TSA, the second such association that it has brought back into the fold after the Ri-War Mihngi Football Association, which had not been functioning for a very long time.
In conclusion, Syiem wished the office bearers of both associations to dedicate themselves for the welfare of the players of their respective areas.The revival of the Thadlaskein Sports Association marks a significant milestone for football in the region.
