Base laid for road to tourist spot Markham

SHILLONG, Oct 21: The picturesque location of Markham has recently garnered significant attention, but reaching the area has been a major challenge due to the poor condition of the roads. However, this obstacle for tourists is set to ease, as the metalling and blacktopping of the approach road to Laitmurok, Markham, has finally been approved.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh and local MLA Shakliar Warjri, on Monday, laid the foundation stone for the road construction project, which includes metalling and blacktopping the approach road to Laitmurok, Markham. Paul Lyngdoh announced that the Department of Tourism has sanctioned around Rs 2.07 crore for this project.
The event was organised by the DC’s Office, Mairang, and the Dorbar Kur Lyngdoh-Nonglait.
