SHILLONG, Oct 24: The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned the construction of 88 roads, stretching 782.155 km, along with 55 bridges in Meghalaya under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-III. This ambitious project, with an estimated budget of Rs 1,056.82 crore, aims to address the infrastructural needs of the state’s remote areas.
This approval follows an earlier phase under PMGSY-III, in which 55 roads spanning 443.26 km were already green-lit for construction, representing an additional investment of Rs 412.34 crore.
The newly sanctioned projects are set to align with the central government’s broader vision of a prosperous Northeast as part of its Viksit Bharat (Developed India) initiative.
These infrastructure improvements are expected to have a transformative impact on the state’s rural landscape.
