SHILLONG, Nov 8: The state government has directed PA Sangma International Medical College to withdraw admissions of 13 candidates allocated against the state quota seats, without prior consultation with the government, and to reallocate the seats accordingly.
In an order, issued by State Health Commissioner and Secretary Joram Beda, the Health department highlighted that under a consensual agreement on October 29 between the state and PA Sangma International Medical College, 64 MBBS seats were allocated as state quota.
“Whereas 11 seats in Garo category and 2 seats in SC/OST category could not be filled during the Stray Vacancy Round, whereas the management of the PA Sangma International Medical College filled up the 13 seats meant for the State Quota purportedly through a decision taken in the Counselling Committee without the permission of the State Government and in contravention of the  Consensual Agreement. Now, therefore, the Government of Meghalaya in the Health and Family Welfare Department, hereby rescinds the admissions made against the State Quota with immediate effect and directs the Management of PA Sangma International Medical College to withdraw admission of the 13 candidates made against the State Quota seats and to refund the fee to the concerned students,” the order said.
