SHILLONG, Nov 11: Newly-appointed Mission Director of DREAM Project and retired police official, Francis G Kharshiing is keen to engage with the community and society at large to address the root cause of the drug menace in the state in order to make Meghalaya a drug-free state.
Kharshiing on Monday called on Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh to discuss the way forward in dealing with the menace of drugs.
Kharshiing apprised the minister that he needs infrastructure and manpower to start the work, even though he made it clear that he was least concerned about these aspects.
Kharshiing has called a meeting with NGOs, students and other stakeholders on November 13 to discuss the DREAM project.
He made it clear that although he will try his best, the results may not be visible in a few days or a month.
