Tura, Nov 15: Students of NEHU in Tura on Friday submitted a joint representation to Tura MP Saleng A Sangma urging him to address the present critical situation prevailing in the university.

The students’ community, in their joint representation stated, “NEHU’s ranking has suffered a considerable decline under the current VC’s leadership, reflecting severe administrative failures and a lack of strategic academic planning. This downturn has damaged the university’s reputation and compromised the quality of education, affecting the future prospects of students.

The VC appointed unqualified and inexperienced individuals to key administrative positions, such as Registrar and Deputy Registrar. These appointments were made without regard to merit, adding to the chaos and inefficiencies of university administration”.

In addition to the illegal appointments, they stated that the infrastructure at the university was in a deplorable state and that it was facing shortage of transportation facilities, poorly maintained hostels, water shortages, crumbling academic buildings, lack of sufficient teaching faculty, equipments etc as well as failure to recruit against vacancies. The students also raised the issue of the alleged ‘unconstitutional’ dissolution of PGSU and sought its reinstatement.

Pointing out that the crisis was going from bad to worse day by day, the students’ community urged the Tura MP to look into the matter to restore its status as a renowned university.
