Ardent gets another term as VPP prez

SHILLONG, Nov 17: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has re-elected Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit as its president during the 2nd State Convention-cum-General Council Meeting held at the party office in Laitkor on Sunday.
Alongside Basaiawmoit, several other key leaders were also re-elected to their positions. Kara Chen was re-elected as vice president, Shillong MP Ricky AJ Syngkon as general secretary, Shembor Rynjah as joint secretary, Grosper Ryntathiang as treasurer, and Danny Langstieh as finance secretary.
Additionally, 12 members of the State Executive Committee were elected during the meeting.
The party also announced leadership roles for its youth and women’s wings. Marbud Dkhar and Nathaniel Mawrie were nominated as president and general secretary of the youth wing, respectively, while Phistila Syiem was named president of the women’s wing.
During the first session, Ricky AJ Syngkon presented a comprehensive report detailing the party’s journey since its formation in 2021. Grosper Ryntathiang followed with a presentation of the party’s financial report and expenditures.
After his re-election, Basaiawmoit expressed his commitment to strengthening the VPP further. He highlighted plans to enhance the party’s media and legal cells to support its organizational growth and outreach efforts.
