SHILLONG, Nov 25: The Mawmluh Cherra Cement Employees’ Union (MCCEU) has submitted a petition to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, requesting the provision of full 48 months of the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) benefits to all employees irrespective of the number of years of service.
The fresh petition, submitted following a general meeting on Monday, supersedes all previous memoranda sent to the Chief Minister’s Office.
MCCEU general secretary Arnold Thabah outlined the union’s key demands, including the immediate clearance of normal salaries and pending dues before any VRS implementation.
Thabah also appealed for financial alternatives or incentives for contractual and trainee employees and emphasised the need for a comprehensive plan to address their concerns.
“We would like to suggest the speedy and normal operation of the plant with upgradation or other alternative,” MCCEU general secretary said.
He further urged the chief minister to facilitate clear discussions with employees before finalising any decisions.
