State students shine at Thailand event

SHILLONG, Dec 9: A ten-member delegation of faculty and students from Gilead Learning Center, Upper Nongrim Hills, Shillong, participated in the All Asia Student Convention (AASC 2024) held last month at the prestigious Thammasat University Rangsit, Thailand.
The event brought together students from various schools affiliated with the Accelerated Christian Education – School of Tomorrow, USA, to compete in academics, platform performance, and athletics. Participants represented schools from 125 institutions across Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Pakistan, Mongolia, Russia, the United States, Japan, South Korea, India, and others, with a total of approximately 1,660 students taking part.
This year’s convention marked a record number of participating countries. India was represented by 28 students, including the delegation from Gilead Learning Center.
The contingent from Gilead Learning Center excelled in the competition, earning a total of eight medals: two first-place finishes and six third-place finishes in music categories. Joanan W. Kharmujai and Tiaben Changkiri won first place in the Mixed Duet category, while the Instrumental Ensemble team—comprising Arihanta Khanduri, Faith Longleng, Joanan W. Kharmujai, Victoria Longleng, Yikormi Makan, and Tiaben Changkiri—secured third place.
In addition to competing, the school also showcased local culture at the India booth during the event.
