SHILLONG, Dec 21: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed flyover connecting Rilbong to Barik Point is expected to be completed within next six months.
Sources revealed that the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has begun preparing the DPR.
Initially, the plan was to construct a flyover from Rilbong to Anjalee Point. However, the project has been revised, with the government now aiming to extend the flyover to Barik Point.
The state government had raised this proposal with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, who supported the idea.
One of the significant challenges for the project will be acquiring defence land, as a substantial portion of land from Rhino Point to Civil Hospital will be needed for the flyover’s construction.
“The DPR is being prepared, and a land plan will also be developed for the project,” sources added.
