Meghalaya Kick-Boxing Assn inaugurates training camp

Nongpoh, Jan 13: The All Meghalaya Kick-Boxing Association (AMKA) officially inaugurated its six-day training camp, the 8th State-Level Kick-Boxing Training Camp, at the AMKA Umsning Training Centre, on Monday.
The event witnessed the participation of over 70 youth and children from various districts of Khasi and Jaintia Hills, who will undergo rigorous training during the camp to hone their skills in kick-boxing.
AMKA, as part of its mission, aims to inspire young talents and support athletes who have already represented the state and won medals at recent national competitions, including the one held in Kerala a few weeks ago, also distributed certificates during the day.
The six-day training camp is expected to serve as a platform to empower and inspire young athletes to achieve excellence in kick-boxing while fostering discipline, health, and a positive outlook for their future.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Eddie G Kharbani, UDP candidate for Umsning constituency, as the chief guest. Also in attendance were Elias Marak, Officer-in-Charge of Umsning Police Station; Samuel Hashah, President of AMKA.
Encouraging the participants, Kharbani emphasized the importance of discipline, respect, and dedication to their chosen sport. He highlighted how sports today, unlike in the past when it was mainly seen as physical exercise, has evolved into a career pathway that can ensure financial stability and uplift families.
