Ri-Bhoi boys emerge as football champions; EKH win women’s title

SHILLONG, Jan 24: In a full packed Kiang Nangbah Football Stadium in Jowai, in the Women’s Under-17 category, East Khasi Hills defeated Ri-Bhoi at a score of 1-0. In a tough fight by both the squads, it was the EKH girls whomanaged to break Ri-Bhoi’s defence and score the lone goal of the match.
However, in the Boys’ Football, Ri Bhoi district managed to defeat WKH Boys 1-0. West Jaintia Hills won the bronze medal in Men’s football whereas South West Khasi Hills Districtsecured the bronze medal in women’s category.
The women’s bronze medal match was a close-knitmatch with a score of 1-0, however, the men’s bronze medal match ended with West Jaintia Hills clearly dominating over South West Khasi Hills in a score of 7-2.

ARM WRESTLING

In the Women’s 50kg (Below) category, Anisha Jyrwa of EKHDclinched the Gold medal, with Melinda Mawlong and Milarita L. Nongbri, also from EKHD,securing Silver and Bronze, respectively.
The Women’s 60kg (Below)category saw MonicaSyntem from WJHD wonGold, while DorisWanniang of WKHD and Parkles Lyngkhei of EKHDwon silver and bronze.Iaryngkatdor Kurkalang of EKHD bagged Silver in the Women’s 60kg Above category, Shanborlang Marngar from WKHD who took home Gold, Larishisha Kharbanifrom WKHD wonBronze.
In the Men’s categories, Frankystar Mawlieh of WKHD secured Silver in the 55kg Below division, Roderick Pou Leong Lyngdoh of EKHD with Bronze.
]Nangapjingbha Nongrum from EKHD dominated the Men’s 65kg Below category, winningGold, while Donnam Kharkongor of EKHD earned Silver and Dapkmenlang Lyngdoh fromSWKHD took Bronze.
The Men’s 75kg Below category Mebansan Sangma from SWKHD took Gold, Hamelasiewdor Diengdoh of EWKHD secured Bronze.
In the Men’s 75kg Above division,Pyngkupborlang Iawphniaw and Pynshailang Narlong from Ri Bhoi secured Bronze and Silver.
