MAWKYRWAT, Feb 1: Mawkyrwat MDC and National People’s Party (NPP) candidate for the upcoming KHADC polls, Carness Sohshang, has urged the people of Mawkyrwat constituency not to be swayed by individuals who use religious rhetoric and claims of love for the jaitbynriew but contribute little to real progress.
Speaking to media persons after filing his nomination papers at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Mawkyrwat on Saturday, Sohshang emphasised that this election presents an opportunity to the NPP to further develop South West Khasi Hills district in general and Mawkyrwat in particular.
Expressing confidence in his decision to join the NPP, he said, “I have no regrets about joining the NPP; in fact, I am very happy because, as an MDC, I have been able to achieve many things for the jaitbynriew and bring development to Mawkyrwat constituency.”
Sohshang urged the people not to fall for empty words but to recognise the significance of the election.
“Let us not fall into the sweet talk of some people using words of God and their love for the jaitbynriew. Actually, they are not doing anything. It is very crucial that people should not misunderstand this opportunity,” Sohshang said.
Apart from Sohshang, HSPDP candidate Polanding Sohphoh also filed his nomination papers from Mawkyrwat constituency during the day.
