Sunday — the day when all emergencies must wait

In Shillong, emergencies have to respect Sundays, because there is no other option. Need a doctor, perhaps only God can help. Hospitals are as deserted as a haunted house, and if you’re hunting for a medical shop, then that should be a treasure hunt.
For pet owners, the situation is even worse. If your dog sneezes on a Sunday, just pat them and whisper, and tell them to hold on for another day. Veterinary services are practically non-existent, as if animals are programmed to fall sick only on weekdays.
Yes, everyone deserves a break, but should life-saving services take the weekend off too? Emergencies don’t own calendars, but it seems Shillong’s healthcare system does. Maybe we should all schedule our ailments accordingly and make sure not to ever get sick on a Sunday!

JN Stadium: The multi-tasker

The city’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is having quite the week. First, it hosted its inaugural Indian Super League (ISL) match on February 7, and now, the stadium is tuning up for Ed Sheeran’s concert on February 12.
Football fans search for tickets for the back-to-back ISL matches, while music lovers are gearing up for Ed Sheeran and Mr. Big. The real challenge? Juggling both without losing friends, relationships, or jobs.
For music fans, Valentine’s Day is sorted, assuming they can find a way to split time between romance and replays of last night’s game. Shillong is in for a wild week — just hope no one forgets to sleep.
