SHILLONG: One person identified as Willander Lamare (35) of Madanryting block who was involved in setting ablaze one Anna Khongwar in a forest near the ARC Firing surrendered before the Madanryting Police Station here on Saturday afternoon.

East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said that the accused revealed that he had an argument with forty-year-old Anna Khongwar of 3rd Mile following which he set her on fire.

Earlier, two persons were suspected to be involved in the incident but Willander Lamare claims that he was alone during the incident.

However, Kharkrang said that the police would do its investigation to find out if more persons were involved in the incident.

Police have registered an attempt-to-murder case and the victim has received 30 to 35 percent burn injuries.

Police said that the surrendered person would be produced before the court on Sunday.
