Dist-level Viksit Bharat Youth Parl in M’laya

SHILLONG, Feb 27: Meghalaya is set to host the district-level competition of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, centered around the theme ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat.’ The competition will take place in three phases, beginning with the District Level, followed by the State Level, and culminating in the National Level.
The District-Level rounds will be conducted in educational institutions across 300 nodal districts nationwide.
In Meghalaya, the designated institutions include North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) for East Khasi Hills, Sngap Syiem College for South West Khasi Hills, Don Bosco College in Byndihati for both West and East Jaintia Hills, Mairang Presbyterian Science College for Eastern West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills, and the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) for Ri-Bhoi.
Tura Government College will host the competition for East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, and West Garo Hills.
Participants who succeed at the District Level will move on to the state-level competition, which will be held at the respective State Assembly venues. The journey will then conclude at the National Level, where finalists will take part in a grand event at the Parliament of India.
Each phase of the competition will focus on key democratic and constitutional themes.
At the District Level, participants will debate the topic ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat.’ The state-level discussions will cover ‘75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress’ and ‘The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India’s Constitutional Values.’
The national-level debate will centre around ‘One Nation, One Election: Simplifying Democracy, Amplifying Progress, Ensuring Stability.’
Aspiring participants aged 18 to 25, as of February 1, 2025, can register online through the ‘My Bharat’ portal from February 25 to March 9, 2025. As part of the selection process, applicants must submit a one-minute video. During the competition, participants will have three to four minutes to present their ideas, with speeches permitted in either English or Hindi.
