SHILLONG: In pursuance to the Supreme Court order, the Deputy Director of Higher and Technical Education has issued a notice to the students who have submitted their representation regarding validation of degrees, pertaining to CMJ University, are required to appear in person along with all relevant supporting documents to the hearing from February 25.
As per the first list, altogether 297 students of CMJ University have been called for the hearing at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, (behind the Tennis Courts) from February 25 till February 28.
It was on September 13 last year when the Supreme Court after hearing a special leave petition filed by CMJ University Chancellor Chandra Mohan Jha challenging the Meghalaya High Court order, dismissed the petition and directed the State Government to follow the Governor’s order asking for dissolution of the CMJ University within three months.
However, the State Government decided to seek extension of four months before finally dissolving the University stating that it has received several applications from the students of the University for their accommodation in other Universities.
After former Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary on June 12 last year recommended for dissolution of CMJ University as per Section 48 of the CMJ University Act, 2009, the State Government had issued show-cause notice to the University on July 4 last year.
