SHILLONG, April 3: Premier think tank Asian Confluence will host an international seminar on ‘Ensuring Water Security, Ecological Integrity, and Disaster Resilience in the Sub- Himalayan Region: The Case of the Brahmaputra’ on Tuesday, in Guwahati.
According to a statement here, the international seminar will bring together leading experts from South and Southeast Asia, policymakers and thought leaders to discuss the concerns over China recently approving the construction of the world’s largest dam on the Brahmaputra River at the Great Bend Dam.
“The seminar aims to foster a collaborative dialogue between governmental agencies, civil society organisations, environmental practitioners and academicians on the immense challenges to the lower riparian regions posed by the proposed dam in Tibet against the backdrop of looming climate change,” the statement said.
