SHILLONG: Twenty-seven students of Martin Luther Christian University are benefitting from sponsorships by Pawan Hans, the national helicopter service company.

The students all hail from rural Meghalaya and are the beneficiaries of the firm’s corporate social responsibility programme, the Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd Corporate Social Responsibility Project Postgraduate Scholarships, which is being implemented in a phased manner.

“Out of this investment we (Pawan Hans) want you to get the jobs you deserve,” Sanjay Kumar, General Manager – Eastern Region, told the students on Wednesday, a statement in line with what MLCU stands for, vis-a-vis developing skill sets and grooming students for the job market.

The students come from streams such as Masters of Social Work and Business Administration.

“This scholarship has been of great help to the deserving and hardworking students who come from marginalised sections of society,” Rev EH Kharkongor, Registrar of the University, said.

“It would be good to see more corporates, trusts or even able individuals making an effort to ‘give back’,” he added.
