AMSU sponsored strike cripples life in Manipur

Imphal: All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) trigerred 12-hour strike paralysed life in the state on Thursday.

The strike was called to protest against killing of four people by a NSCN (IM) cadre on August one at Sangakpham.

All inter and intra passenger bus services were cancelled, while educational institutes were also closed down. Shutters were down in all the shops and roads wore a deserted look.

Security personnel were posted in large numbers to check occurrence of violence.

However, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state during the bandh.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had informed that a cadre of NSCN(IM) was responsible for the blast. The NSCN(IM) cadre identified as one Anthony, son of Bonkulung of Sadu Koireng also died. (UNI)
