Molestation

On March 3 at around 10.30 am, one Aiban Marbaniang (30) outraged the modesty of a 17-year-old girl near Nazareth Hospital, Shillong. Police arrested the accused.

Assault

  • Pious Dhar lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on the night of February 28, one Deimonmi Bhoi along with his accomplices came to Mukroh village (WJH) in a Tata Sumo vehicle (ML-04A-9371) and assaulted and threatened him with dire consequences besides damaging his Maruti car (ML-04B-8513). The accused also took away cash amounting to Rs. 50,000, two cell phones with SIM cards from him. In this connection, Police arrested Deimonmi Bhoi, Bahlieh Lyngdoh, Rakesh Singh, Orting Suchiang, Edena Tyngkan, Damehi Lathong, Wadsick Tang and Karnot Tang.
  • On February 27 around 10 am, Runitson R. Marak and Goodness G. Momin assaulted and threatened Rikrak K Sangma with dire consequences at Doba Apal village (NGH).
  • On March 3, Md. Hakim Uddin assaulted his wife Mofida Khatun (18) at their residence at Borsora (SWKH), inflicting grievous injuries on her. She was shifted to CHC Ranikor. The accused is absconding.
  • On March 3 at around 2.30 pm, one Tapan Debbarma assaulted Edmund Kharpor, Rangbah Dong of Mawlynrei village (EKH). The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong.

Traffic rules violation

In a drive against tinted glasses, Shillong Traffic Police detected 52 vehicles with tinted glasses and a fine of Rs. 23800 was realised from the offenders.
