Bike-riding malaria officials for better service

SHILLONG: Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek on Tuesday flagged off 22 motorcycles which were handed over to the Malaria Technical Supervisors under the Meghalaya State Vector Borne Disease Control Society.
Each supervisor would roughly cover the populace within two blocks and will also support malaria prevention and control operations in close association with respective block medical and district malaria officers.
Addressing the gathering, Hek urged the Malaria Technical Supervisors to render their services with sincerity. The Health Minister informed that the supervisors would reach out to the rural communities of the state to render diagnostic and treatment services for malaria.
The supervisors would also visit all the PHCs and designated microscopy centres besides ensuring adequate supply of anti malaria drugs availability of test facilities at all points of service delivery.
