Apollo Hospital mulls clinic in M’laya

SHILLONG: India’s healthcare major Apollo Hospitals group is mulling to set up its first clinic in Meghalaya to be in touch with the local populace from the Northeastern region.

Speaking to newsmen here on Thursday, Apollo hospitals Group medical officer Dr Anupam Sibal informed that the group is travelling to different parts of the country imparting medical knowledge through their education programmes.

He said that the group has interacted with the local doctors in regards to the common problems faced by the people of the state and region even as he added that People from Meghalaya have the habit of chewing betelnuts which makes them prone to oral cancer.

According to Dr Sushil Jain, people in the region generally suffer from kidney and gall bladder stones as well as tumors.

“In Meghalaya and Assam, every second house has gall bladder patient,” Jain said adding that the reason could be due to the fooding habit and impure water.

“Apollo hospital is equipped with the latest imaging, laser radiations, equipment and expertise that has enabled us to deliver minimally invasive treatment with excellent outcomes and early returns to work, making treatment extremely cost effective for a wide variety of urological problems.

Apollo Hospitals is a major hospital chain based in Chennai, India. It was founded by Dr Prathap C. Reddy in 1983. Apollo is a private healthcare provider in Asia with hospitals in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Ghana, Nigeria, Republic of Mauritius, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.
