Youth injured as two groups of same family get in a brawl

SHILLONG, July 8: A 24-year-old youth, identified as Khrawbok Khongsit, sustained injuries following a brawl between two groups from the same family at Mawlai Nongmali on Monday.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, SP (City) Herbert Kharkongor said the altercation reportedly began in the morning, but the police were informed only late at night.
He stated that an officer from Mawlai Police Station was immediately dispatched to the scene to assess the situation. A case has since been registered.
There is currently no information on whether any attempts have been made within the family to resolve the dispute amicably and as of now, no arrests have been made, he added.
In a separate incident on Monday night, police intervened in a disturbance in the Polo area. The SP (City) said that several individuals involved in the commotion were taken into custody.
