Guwahati: The hardliner ULFA faction on Saturday rejected the charter of demands presented by the pro-talks faction of the outfit to the Central government. In an e-mailed statement to local media here, ULFA’s ‘central publicity wing’ member ‘Lieutenant’ Arunudoy Dohotoia said the charter of demands prepared and presented by the pro-talks faction yesterday was against the ideology and objectives of the outfit.

He rejected the document, terming it as ‘hogwash’ in the name of political resolution of the ‘ULFA-India’ conflict.

The outfit has demanded Constitutional and political arrangements and reforms, including protection of the identity and material resources of indigenous population of Assam, in its charter of demands which was presented to the Union Home minister by the pro-talks faction, led by ‘chairman’ Arabinda Rajkhowa, on Friday.

However, a faction of the outfit, led by ‘c-in-c’ Paresh Barua, has stayed outside the peace process. (UNI)
