Tura, July 12: The athletic selection trial for the upcoming 39th National Games 2027 was conducted on Saturday at the Pa Togan Nengminja Track and Field Stadium in Dakopgre, Tura.
Organised by the West Garo Hills District Sports Office in association with the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, the trial witnessed enthusiastic participation from athletes across the Garo Hills region.
The event featured competitions across three major athletic disciplines—running, jumping, and throwing—for both men and women categories.
The trials in Tura marked the final leg of the state-level selection process, following similar trials held for athletes from the Jaintia Hills and Khasi Hills regions on June 28 and July 5, respectively.
The selected athletes from all regions will now be in contention to represent Meghalaya at the prestigious National Games, which the state is set to host in 2027.
