Pakistan FM Dar meets President Xi, vows stronger bilateral ties

Lahore/Beijing, Jul 15: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s strong commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China and advancing shared regional goals during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. The meeting took place ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers’ session in Tianjin, where Dar led Pakistan’s delegation. He described the Pak-China relationship as “iron-clad” and conveyed warm greetings from Pakistan’s leadership.
On the sidelines of the SCO meeting, Dar also held discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, and defense, and invited Lavrov to visit Pakistan. Additionally, Dar met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, expressing solidarity with Iran amid regional tensions and emphasizing diplomacy as the path to peace.
Dar further engaged with foreign ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus to strengthen bilateral ties and regional collaboration within the SCO framework, aiming to boost stability and cooperation amid geopolitical challenges. (PTI)
