JOWAI, July 23: Alleging violation of the terms and conditions laid down by the JHADC concerning the operation of the Council’s check gate at Khliehtyrshi bypass, West Jaintia Hills, the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has lodged an FIR against the Taxation department of the Council.
The organsiation pointed out that the check point was set up to check trading licences of non-tribal commercial vehicles conducting business within the Council’s jurisdiction.
Stating that vehicles from neighbouring states are not subject to checking of trading licences, the organisation, however, claimed that on July 21, it witnessed several interstate commercial vehicles being checked and taxed at the Khliehtyrshi check gate.
It also highlighted that as per the terms and conditions, verification of trading licence at the check gate should be done under the supervision of JHADC officials but the HITO claimed that they did not find any official presented at the check gate except the people deputed by the agent of the Council.
