SHILLONG: The annual Army Station Garden Competition and Flower Show was held at Shillong from March 25 to March 29. The first such competition was conducted in the year 1989.
The competition was held in three parts – Gardens, Potted plants and Flower arrangements and there was an overwhelming response from Officers, JCOs and other ranks including families and children.
The competition was judged by eminent Horticulturists from Shillong Agri-Horticultural Society led by V Singhania and S Dkhar. Simultaneously  two sets of         (Contd in P-10)

(Contd from P-3) judges visited the Regimental Officers Messes, Offices, Guest Rooms, Holiday Homes and Institutes.
The potted plant competition was held on March 28 in which approximately 450 potted plant entries under 17 different categories were judged at the Rhino Training Complex.
On March 29, flower arrangement competition in respect of fresh, dry and ikebana styles were held. The culmination of the event was the prize distribution ceremony in the Rhino Training Complex where the Chief Guest was Lt Gen RS Panwar, GOC 101 Area accompanied by President Regional AWWA. A number of cultural programmes by Assam Regimental Centre and 58 Gorkha Training Centre were held during the event, which was followed by prize distribution to the winners and band display by the Band of Centres.
