SHILLONG, Aug 22: The Meghalaya government has decided to hand over consumer metering, billing and revenue collection in three sub-divisions to a new firm.
Sources said that the government has decided to terminate its agreement with Feedback Energy Distribution Corporation Limited (FEDCO), which was tasked with bill collection and managing distribution lines in the sub-divisions of Mawsynram, Phulbari and Nangalbibra.
It was further informed that the government has already floated a tender to appoint a new firm for the work.
It may be mentioned that the government has received multiple complaints regarding FEDCO’s performance, even as the firm has largely wound up its operations in Meghalaya.
It was also revealed that the firm owes around Rs 30 crore to the state government.
