SHILLONG: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests TTC Marak has claimed that cases against him were dropped by concerned agencies.

“There are no cases pending as far as the construction of Syndai Park is concerned. The Public Accounts Committee, while accepting the submission of the CAG and State Government officials, stated that investigation should be done as to who provided the wrong information as to the funds being kept in his personal accounts leading to wrongful report by the CAG”, Marak said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

According to Marak, the FIR filed at the Dawki Police station against him was disposed of by

the ADM’s Court as the petitioners withdrew the complaint as it was based on wrong information.

“The PIL filed by the President, War Jaintia Students Union, at the Guwahati High Court was closed with the observation that as the Government did not agree with the CID report, the Court refrained from making any observation on merits,” Marak said.

Marak further reiterated that the Joint Inspection team from the Border Area Development Department and the Forest Department on February 3, 2010, reported that the works had been done and completed as per the plans and estimates.

The DFO Social Forestry, Jowai, also furnished the completion report and utilization certificates related to Syndai park, Marak added.

However, Marak is tight lipped about the missing files related to the matter and moreover, the forest department is yet to come up with any clarifications on the Syndai Park controversy.
