SHILLONG, Aug 27: Amid reports of militants attempting fresh recruitment in the state, Cabinet Minister and BJP leader AL Hek has said that the doors of both the state and the central governments are always open for negotiations.
Expressing concern over the reports of militants trying to regroup in Meghalaya, the senior BJP leader said the government does not want a revival of militancy in the state. “The door of the state and the central governments is open for any negotiation. So if there are any issues, come and resolve them across the table,” he said.
Hek further stated that no one is above the law and anyone taking the law into their own hands should be punished.
Earlier, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had said the state government cannot ignore reports of militants regrouping in Meghalaya, given the changing situation in neighbouring Bangladesh, while adding that such reports need to be verified with intelligence inputs.
