SHILLONG, Aug 28: The Court of Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills, has convicted one Ganesh, alias Sangi Rai and ‘Popo’, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor.
The case was registered at Khliehriat Women Police Station.
The investigation was led by WPSI L Siangshai, and the charge sheet was submitted on November 13, 2023.
The court found the accused guilty under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Besides the imprisonment, the court has also directed him to pay a fine of Rs 20,000.
