Mayawati’s nephew promoted as BSP national convener
LUCKNOW, Aug 29: Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati has promoted her nephew Akash Anand, appointing him as the BSP’s national convener, party sources said.If the sources are to be believed, the post of national convener is second to that of the national president. Akash has now become the second most powerful leader, they said.Till now, Akash Anand had been playing the role of national coordinator.BSP UP unit president Vishwanath Pal, confirmed that Akash Anand has now become the national convener of the party.Later, in a post on X, Pal said, “Many thanks to respected sister Kumari Mayawati ji for appointing Shri Akash Anand ji as the national convener of the BSP. Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to national convener Hon. Akash Anand ji. #JaiBhim.”However, the party has not yet issued any official statement about this new appointment. Pal said, “On the instructions of Behenji (Mayawati), along with Akash Bhaiya, we have started preparing for the 2027 UP assembly elections.” (PTI)
Man, woman, her two minor sons die by suicide
PALANPUR, (Gujarat) Aug 29: A woman, her two minor sons and a man not related to her allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a canal in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district on Friday, a police official said.The incident took place this afternoon at Goda village in Deodar taluka.“The deceased have been identified as Priyanka Prajapati and her two sons Mayank (6) and Meet (4) as well as one Lalit Prajapati. The man and woman are in their 30s and are not related to each other. Lalit was a resident of Masali in neighbouring Patan district, while Priyanka stayed with her family in Buretha village in Bhabhar taluka of Banaskantha,” police said.“Due to unknown reasons, the four jumped into a canal near Goda village. We have retrieved the bodies and handed them to kin after conducting post mortem. A probe is underway into the incident,” police said. (PTI)
150 Puja special trains from Sept 21 to Nov 30 to handle rush
NEW DELHI, Aug 29: The Railway Board has issued notifications regarding the operation of 150 Puja special trains from September 21 to November 30, which will make a total of 2,024 trips to handle the extra rush of passengers.Railway officials said that under the Puja special trains, South Central Railway will run the maximum number of 48 trains, completing 684 trips.“These trains will be operated mainly from major stations like Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Vijayawada,” a press note from the Railways said.East Central Railway has notified 14 trains which will pass through major stations of Bihar like Patna, Gaya and Muzaffarpur will make a total of 588 trips.While Western Railway has announced 24 special trains from cities like Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara to operate 204 trips, Southern Railway has also made preparations to put in service 10 such trains from stations like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai to run 66 trips. More trains will be notified in the coming days, considering the travel needs of passengers (PTI)
