Royal Wahingdoh kick-start Aizawl campaign with 2-1 win

SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh scripted a 2-1 win against Hindustan FC in their second leg I-League II match on Thursday in Aizawl after some exciting moments.

Wahingdoh drew first blood after Babatunde tapped in a cross from Seityasen Singh in just the third minute. However, Hindustan FC’s Mayal Lepcha headed in a ball in the 22nd minute for the equaliser. The Royals took the decisive lead when they were awarded a penalty in the 31st minute. Mala’s shot was a miss but Seitya collected the return to finalise the scores at 2-1 for the Royals as they continued their unbeaten run this I-League season.

East Khasi Hills U-12 District-level football tournament

SHILLONG: Mylliem and Mawphlang reached the final of the boys’ East Khasi Hills District Level Under-12 Football Tournament here on Thursday. Mawsynram and Khatarshnong reached the girls’ final.

In Wednesday’s semifinal matches, Mylliem defeated Pynursla 6-0, while Mawphlang were 2-1 winners over Mawryngkneng. In the girls’ semis, Mawsynram and Khatarshnong won 6-0 and 4-0 over Mawryngkneng and Mylliem, respectively.

The girls’ final will take place at 10 am on Friday at Third Ground, Polo, followed by the boys’ final at 11 am.

First semifinal of invitational football tourney today

SHILLONG: Khliehriat 7 Young Star grabbed the last semifinal spot in the 1st Meghalaya Invitation Local Football Tournament, organized by the Pay For Right Youth and Cultural Club, Malki, defeating Malki Oldies 2-0 at Malki Ground on Thursday.

The first semifinal will be held on Friday between Phlang Mawsyrpat Lade FC and Demseiniong SC at 3 pm. Khliehriat 7 Young Star will face Nohron FC at 3 pm on the following day.

In the quarterfinal between Khliehriat and Malki Oldies, the first session ended goalless before two second half goals sealed the affair in the former’s favour.

Rangkynsai, Lumbatngen record wins in SCA Second Div league

SHILLONG: Lumbatngen defeated Desari by 8 wickets in the league match of the SCA Second Division Cricket League organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at the Cricket Ground, Polo on Thursday.

Lumbatngen won the toss and put Desari into bat. Desari were all out scoring only 78 runs in 15.3 overs. L.K. Kohmanhring took 4/14 runs of 2.3 overs. In reply, Lumbatngen reached the target scoring 82 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets in 9.1 overs. Md. Kitabuddin scored 36 runs of 25 balls, while Lohit took 1/6 runs in 1 over for Desari.

In the second match of the day, Rangkynsai defeated River Hauz by 40 runs. Electing to bat first after winning the toss Rangkynsai scored 125 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Husna Mubarak scored 24 runs of 21 balls, while Kitkupar took 3/21 runs in 3 overs. In reply, River Hauz were all out for 85 runs in 16.5 overs. Samuel Mawlong scalped 4/25 runs in 4 overs.
