TURA, Aug 31: Promoting the values of fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), South West Garo Hills, celebrated the National Sports Day from August 29 to 31, 2025 with various inter-house games and competitions to mark the occasion.
The event opened with the Principal of the school Mohammad Abdul Gani lighting the lamp and paying floral tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, India’s hockey legend. He interacted with the students and highlighted the role of sports in leading a disciplined and healthy life. He emphasized that all participants should compete in the games with a sense of sportsmanship, treating the opponents with respect and spirit of brotherhood.
Dr Arvind Yadav delivered a special talk on the life and achievements of Major Dhyan Chand, whose birthday (August 29) is celebrated every year as the National Sports Day, and urged the students to embrace sports as a way of life.
Later, Fit India Pledge was administered and was followed by rounds of traditional games and competitions, including volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, football, Yoga and tug of war. All the students participated in the competitions.
