Assam govt declares 3-day state mourning from Sept 20 over Zubeen’s death

Guwahati, Sept 20: Assam Government has declared 3-day state mourning of departed singing icon Zubeen Garg on September 20, 21 and 22 even as business establishments all over Brahmaputra Valley in Assam have observed spontaneous bandh since morning today.
Meanwhile, Singapore authorities have completed the post-mortem of iconic singer, lyricist, music composer, actor and filmmaker Zubeen Garg who died in a mishap in South China Sea in Singapore. The body has been handed over to Indian authorities in Singapore.
Official sources here informed that the body will be flown to New Delhi by an Air India plane at 11 pm (IST). Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will receive the mortal remains of the singer in New Delhi.
The mortal remains are expected to reach Guwahati in the wee hours of Sunday and will be first taken to Zubeen Garg’s residence at Kahilipara in Guwahati. The CM has called upon the grief-stricken fans of the singers not to crowd the residence of the singer at the time of arrival of mortal remains for the sake of facilitating private time for his family.
Subsequently, the mortal remains will be kept in Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati to people to have the last glimpse and pay respect to the singer, the heart-throb of millions.
