Benny wasn’t just any bumblebee. He was the sharpest detective in the entire meadow. With his tiny magnifying glass and a hat slightly too big for his head, Benny had solved every mystery that buzzed his way, missing nectar, stolen pollen, even the case of the mysterious midnight buzzing.
One sunny morning, chaos erupted in the hive. The Queen Bee was pacing back and forth, her wings fluttering in distress.
“Benny!” she cried. “Our honey supply is gone! Every last drop!”
The worker bees buzzed nervously, whispering theories.
“Maybe it was the wasps!” one said.
“Or the ants!” another guessed.
Benny flapped his wings calmly. “Don’t worry, everyone. I’ll get to the bottom of this.”
He pulled out his tiny notebook. “First, tell me what happened.”The Queen explained, “Last night, the honey jars were full. But this morning, they were empty. Someone must have stolen them!”Benny nodded thoughtfully. “Hmm… suspicious.”He zipped over to the honey room. Sure enough, the shelves were bare. He dipped a leg into one jar and tasted the remaining drop. “Definitely our honey,” he confirmed. “So, the thief didn’t replace it with fake nectar.”
Clue 1: Sticky footprints.
On the floor, Benny noticed tiny sticky marks. He followed them out of the honey room and into the meadow. They led him past the flower fields and right to a suspicious-looking ant hill.
Benny peeked inside. “Aha! Caught red-handed!”
But the ants were just eating crumbs of bread. The ant leader looked up, annoyed.
“We didn’t take your honey, detective. We don’t even like honey.”
Benny sighed and scratched his head. “Alright, you’re off the hook.”
Clue 2: Buzzing at midnight.
Benny interviewed a sleepy guard bee.
“Did you hear anything strange last night?”
The guard yawned. “Just some buzzing coming from the hive’s back corner. I thought it was the wind.”
Benny followed the clue to the back corner, only to find… nothing. Just a stack of empty jars.
“This case is trickier than a spider’s web,” Benny muttered.
The Big Discovery
Hours passed, and the sun began to set. Benny was about to give up when his stomach rumbled.
“Maybe a quick snack will help me think,” he said, flying toward the storeroom.
As he opened the storeroom door, his eyes widened.
There it was.
Stacks and stacks of honey jars, gleaming golden in the light.
Benny gasped. “The honey wasn’t stolen, it was here the whole time!”
He zoomed back to the Queen. “Your Majesty, mystery solved! The worker bees must have stored the honey here for safekeeping, but they forgot to tell anyone.”
The Queen chuckled in relief. “Oh, what a mix-up!”
The entire hive cheered. Benny smiled proudly, tipping his detective hat.
“Another case closed,” he said, licking a sweet drop of honey from his paw. “And just in time for dinner!
