SHILLONG, Sep 22: Vijay Kumar Mantri, Commissioner and Secretary, Education department, has been inducted as the new State Chief Commissioner of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and affirmation of the Scout Promise.
The formal induction of Mantri took place at the 83rd State Executive Committee Meeting of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides held at the PJ Bazeley Auditorium Hall, State Headquarters, on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Mantri.
Additionally, the meeting also welcomed BJ Kharshandi, Director School Education and Literacy (DSEL), who was inducted as the Additional State Chief Commissioner of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides.
A minute of silence was also observed in respect of DD Lapang, former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the president of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides.
Attendees engaged in fruitful discussions on several pivotal agendas, focusing on resolutions that aim to enhance the Movement for the betterment of youth of the State. The chairperson expressed profound gratitude to all members for their valuable contributions and urged continued dedication to the mission at hand. The proceedings concluded with the heartfelt singing of the National Anthem, affirming unity and purpose among all attendees.
