Tura, Sep 23: The protest for their 44 months’ pending salary by the Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) of the GHADC is set to continue after the employees association once again rejected a new offer of 12 months’ salary release as well as two timeline to pay the remainder.
In a fresh order this afternoon, the secretary to the GHADC made the offer after the 10 month salary release order was rejected outright by the NGEA and employees of the GHADC.
In the earlier order, the GHADC EC had promised to clear the pending dues of the employees along with the 10 months offer. The earlier order did not provide a timeline for the clearance of the pending dues. That however was corrected by the GHADC EC and a 2 year time frame was provided for the clearance of the rest of the dues.
However this failed to pacify the protesters who have sought the entire dues being cleared before the resumption of work.
Meanwhile various CSOs of the Garo Hills region have continued their two-night road blockade in support of the NGEA protest. The blockade will end at 5 AM tomorrow.
