SHILLONG, Sep 24: Citing the difficulties faced by residents during medical emergencies, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Eastern Central Area Division, has sought the immediate provision of an ambulance for the Diengpasoh Primary Health Centre (PHC).
In a letter addressed to Health and Family Welfare Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Wednesday, the KSU said that the absence of an ambulance has caused immense hardship, particularly for elderly citizens, pregnant women, and patients with chronic health conditions who often face critical delays in accessing treatment due to the distance from the nearest hospital.
The Union said the request was made in consultation with the doctor in charge of the PHC and reminded the Minister of a similar appeal earlier submitted by the KSU Mawkynrew Circle on October 4, 2024, under Ref. No. KSU.MC/GN/24/6.
