EGH bags laurels at Bengaluru event

TURA, Sep 24: In a major achievement, East Garo Hills district has gained national recognition after being conferred with the Best-Performing MRMA District Award during the 76th Foundation Day celebration of the Central Silk Board (CSB), which was held at the Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad International Convention Centre, University of Agricultural Sciences, Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bengaluru.
The award was presented to the district for its exemplary implementation of the Mera Resham Mera Abhiman (MRMA) programme.
It may be mentioned that the initiative was effectively coordinated by Dharavath Saicharan, Scientist-B & Incharge, CSB-SSPC Kaliabari, Boko, in close collaboration with the Sericulture department, East Garo Hills.
The campaign received strong leadership and guidance from District Sericulture Officer SG Momin, whose efforts ensured active participation of farmers and stakeholders at the grassroots level. The award was handed over by Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary (Silk), Ministry of Textiles, and Vice Chairperson, CSB.
