Meeting to review pact with two ANVC factions today

SHILLONG, Sep 25: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home (Police), Prestone Tynsong, will hold a meeting on Friday to review the implementation of the Agreed Text for Settlement with the disbanded Achik National Volunteers Council (ANVC) and ANVC (B), originally signed on September 24, 2014.
The chief executive member (CEM) and deputy CEM of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will participate in the meeting, along with eight leaders of the disbanded outfits, including ANVC chairman Dillash Marak and ANVC (B) chairman Bernard N. Marak.
On September 20, the Meghalaya government formally requested ₹664.49 crore from the Centre under the settlement, including ₹252 crore to clear 43 months of pending salaries of the GHADC employees.
In a letter to the Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Commissioner and Secretary in charge of Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development Department, Vijay Kumar D., highlighted that the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change has approved forest-related projects with a total outlay of ₹308,14,27,382.
Additionally, DPRs for the installation of solar street lights, development of rural markets, and promotion of fruit cultivation and value addition through primary processing have been submitted with a combined budget of ₹104.34 crore.
