TURA, Sep 30: The Niksamso Garo Community organisation has expressed deep concern and anguish over the failure of the police to arrest the accused involved in the brutal killing of a school student in East Garo Hills on July 18.
“More than two and a half months have passed, yet justice has not been delivered, and the investigation remains unclear. The community is disturbed by the situation,” it said.
The organization felt that the investigation had not been pursued with urgency despite the fact that previous criminal cases, including those under the POCSO Act, were reportedly pending against the accused.
Reminding that families and the communities have been left in pain and fear due to the lack of transparency and accountability, it demanded the immediate and impartial investigation into the murder case, proper disclosure of the progress made by the police department, as well as action against those found attempting to shield the accused.
