Ri-Bhoi police realises close to Rs 4 L in traffic fines in 2 days

NONGPOH, Oct 5: Continuing their sustained drive against traffic violations along National Highway 6, the Ri-Bhoi Police have realised close to Rs 4 lakh in fines within just two days—October 4 and 5, 2025.
According to official sources, the police collected Rs 1.33 lakh during daytime checks for various traffic offences and Rs 1.60 lakh during night checks for drunk driving on October 4.
On the following day, Sunday, October 5, the police further realised Rs 88,000 in fines from offenders violating road safety norms. This brought the total amount of fines collected over the two-day period to Rs 3.81 lakh, which includes both e-challans and on-spot cash penalties.
The Ri-Bhoi Police has been conducting such checking drives periodically to curb traffic rule violations and to ensure the safety of commuters. The ongoing campaign is also aimed at raising awareness among motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.
