SHILLONG, Oct 6: Newly-inducted Cabinet Minister Sosthenes Sohtun has stressed on the need to expedite the second phase of talks between Meghalaya and Assam to resolve the interstate border dispute. Sohtun hails from Jirang which shares a large tract of interstate border with Assam.
He said the matter was discussed with the chairman of the regional committee and it was felt that the talks should be expedited for the sake of the border people.
Meanwhile, Sohtun also laid stress on the need for both Assam and Meghalaya to jointly address the pollution in Byrnihat.
